I just started studying feng shui. I'm looking for answers on how to help my 10 yr old daughter. Sometimes her life seems so scattered I thought I might help her direct her energy. Can you advise me on getting her Chi in the right direction?
Thank you
Jeanna

Thank you for your question. Judging from the many emails from other parents who are interested in creating a more nurturing atmosphere for their child, it seems that you're not at all alone in feeling that your child's life is a bit "scattered".

Children are naturally quite high in chi, and this excessive energy can create a feeling of chaos when unchanneled - but this is a completely natural state for kids.Laughing

You can use feng shui or other methods to create a more serene atmosphere in your home; adding cures to the Health and Family area (East) and the Creativity and Children area (West) would be wonderful. Use crystals (found at http://www.enchantedcrystals.com/crystals_round.html )to diffuse and move chi(not in the bedroom, though), and possibly a temple bell (you can find bells on our bell page at http://www.enchantedcrystals.com/bells.html ) Some kids very much enjoy a special bell that's all their own.

Kids don't have the kind of focused attention that adults are capable of (in fact our grade schools tend to attempt to force them into this against their nature). Kids are exploring their world, discovering new things, and often jump from one thing to the next. It's their natural state, and we don't want to squash that - we just want to provide a supportive atmosphere from which they can grow.

Probably the best thing you can do is to make sure the energy in your home is supportive and loving. I would enhance your home and your child's room with calming, nurturing colors and sounds. Use blues and greens, and pastels. Add plants (not in the bedroom though). Try to keep clutter to a minimum (but again, allow your kid to be a kid, we need to be a bit relaxed about their natural messiness!)

Perform a simple house blessing periodically throughout the house, especially in your daughter's room. This can be as simple or complex as suits your tastes. For example, you can use incense or a smudge stick, or one of our blessing kits found at http://www.enchantedcrystals.com/ritualkits.html .

We may want to remember that young children naturally emulate our behavior. As you are loving, strong, and calm, your daughter will learn this from you.

Thanks for that, your answer is right in line with what I've been feeling. My daughter has always been very energetic and interested in a lot of things, doesn't finish what she starts and jumps from one activity to the next, having a lot of activities in progress as once. (I realized that we adults call that multitasking.)
I've involved her in some ways to bless the house and improve the chi, and she finds it fun. She also seems to have a natural intuition about the feng shui of rooms, and I'm encouraging her development of that. She can walk into a room and identify when an area needs improvement, and just her being aware of feng shui has helped with the clutter factor. By not making it a big deal, I think I've allowed her to add feng shui to her long list of interests.
One additional question, why do you not recommend crystals in the bedroom?
